The resurrection of Jesus Christ is a big deal. A HUGE DEAL! For without Christ’s resurrection, Christians would have NO hope of eternal security, NOTHING! Why then do so many ‘Christians’ celebrate Easter, a pagan holiday, saying they do so to honor Christ?
Show me where in the Bible God EVER CONDONES a believer mixing HOLY with UNHOLY? As a believer we are told to crucify our flesh. (Galatians 2:20). This is a choice we have to make daily. Are we going to live for Christ, or our flesh; under bondage to our old god, Satan? Unfortunately, most Christians live for their former god on a daily basis, rather than serving the God who paid for their sins. And most do so without even realizing it; for they have been deceived.
How does this deception happen? Most Christians are ignorant to what the Bible truly says. They believe they know truth, because they read a commentary, or listen to sermons, or do daily devotions. They believe they are getting sound teaching, for many of the men or women who wrote or preached on these subjects have multiple degrees behind their names and a large following of people, so they obviously must me doing ‘God’s work’. But what most fail to understand, is that a degree means NOTHING! Studying at the best seminary means NOTHING! All that is counted as dung (Philippians 3:1-8)
Devils today are no longer in the business of possessing men, but rather twisting Biblical doctrine. (1 Timothy 4:1-16) Most seminaries today have been corrupted; teaching false doctrine. Which results in most churches today having preachers teaching false doctrine, which results in a whole lot of Christians walking around deceived, having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof… ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of truth. (2 Timothy 3:5-7).
How can this be proved? Just look at the lifestyles of most churches and Christians… do they look different from the world? No, most do not. I could walk into the house of many believers today, and would see them living lifestyles very similar to their unbelieving neighbors. Why? Because those people are still living in the flesh, rather than the Spirit. And, since I am being completely and brutally honest, most Christian don’t study the Word for themselves; they rely on the others mentioned above.
This time of year, the greatest example of this is when a Christian celebrates Easter. Both the unbeliever and believer participate in egg hunts, Easter baskets, eating an Easter meal, and other festive activities. The only difference usually, is that the believer says they do all this for Christ, while the unbeliever tells their children that Easter is for the Easter bunny. (Though even many Christians lie to their children about the Easter bunny.) My question is why? WHY celebrate a holy day that has roots in pagan tradition? WHY, when a person gets saved and sealed, do they continue to live life in a very similar fashion as they did before? Sure, they may change a bit, clean up some language, start giving to charities, etc. But in reality, not much changes. They go about life not questioning EVERYTHING they were taught in the past. Living like a new man means that we have to question EVERYTHING we do, say, think, to test every spirit (1John 4:1-5) to prove all doctrine; we need to examine our motives against the Bible to determine if it is something that God wants us to participate in.
Do you not realize that from the moment you were born you have been raised in a world void of truth, a world run by Satan (2 Corinthians 4:4), a world where lies reign supreme, for Satan is the father of lies and there is NO TRUTH in him? (John 8:44). And that is the rub…TRUTH. Most people don’t like to be confronted with God’s truth. If the majority of believers really loved God’s word, really studied God’s word for themselves, really held God’s word as supreme over all, their lives, and the world would be a much different place!
Do I personally like or agree with everything the Bible says? NO… but I am NOT GOD, I am His creation. So, it does not matter how I feel about God’s word; it is about obedience. And because I choose daily to live my life in accordance to the Word of God, I choose not to participate in traditions of men, pagan holidays… (Colossians 2:8) and many other things the Word of God tells us to stay away from. When a Christian celebrates Easter, they are NOT honoring God. Easter’s pagan roots are dark, evil, and disgusting. When a Christian celebrates Easter, they are spitting in God’s face, showing their true heart… a heart not willing to be obedient to the word of God. A heart that would rather be obedient to the god of this world, than the one true God.
So, why do I bother to write articles like this, knowing that most don’t actually want to change and live for God, as men’s hearts are wicked (Jeremiah 17:9); most are content living in the flesh. I also know that most of what I write is very disruptive. I am just following the example of the prophets, Jesus, and Paul, who were all disruptive to culture. Truth does that, for it is a savour of death unto death… (2 Corinthians 2:16). I write pieces like this to set myself apart from this world. I want there to be so much evidence against me, that a jury would have no choice but to announce me guilty of being a follower of Christ. I once was lost, and blinded by the god of this world, but after tasting the freedom, peace and hope that can ONLY come from knowing Christ, who is TRUTH, I want NOTHING to do with the darkness, lies and deception of this world. I love God, and I love His Word, so daily I choose to live my life according to HIS Word and not the god of this world.
